Private Thailand Villa Watersports

Whether it’s laid back paddling or adrenaline pumping motorised pursuits, a holiday villa in Thailand is the perfect place to try out a few new watersports, or improve your skills.

Thanks to their fabulous five-star facilities and personalized service approach the private villas on islands such as Koh Samui and Phuket are growing in popularity as the ultimate escape.

Many of the properties in Thailand are situated on or very close to the beach, which makes them the perfect place to try out a few new watersports while you’re on holiday.

Typically, high-end villas are in less developed areas of the islands, near secluded beaches, so you can have a go at your chosen marine activity in beautiful and exclusive surroundings.

Many villas also come with their own watersports equipment, so you might not even have to rent them out.

Below are a few exhilarating ways to jump in at the deep end.

Eco-Friendly Exploration

If you are looking for a relaxed way to explore Thailand’s placid seas, then why not try kayaking? Beaches like Lipa Noi on Koh Samui are perfect places for this activity thanks to the calm waters. A gentle paddle up and down the beach doesn’t need to be taxing and it’s a perfect way to explore the local surroundings from a different angle. Another bonus is that you’re running on your own muscle it’s a truly eco-friendly way of exploring the tropical surroundings. Remember to take your camera along to snap some shots of your beachside private villa from the water.

Find Your Balance

Paddle boarding is the perfect activity for guests who are in the mood for a challenge. In fact, paddle boarding is already one of the most popular watersports on the beaches of Koh Samui and Phuket. The basic skill is to stand on top of a flat board and use a single oar to paddle along. This requires quite a good sense of balance, but once you get the hang of it and get your speed up, it can be super fun. When you get tired, simply sit down on your paddleboard and admire the ocean vistas as you drift along the beach.

Turn up the Knots

If you’re in the mood to try out something a bit more exhilarating than kayaking or paddle boarding, then jet skiing will most likely be your number one choice and many of Thailand’s private villas come fully-equipped with their own jet skis. Zoom up and down the beach and feel the wind in your hair without expending too much energy. Depending on the beach you’re staying by, you may be able to take your jet ski a little further afield in search of private coves and bays further up or down the coast.

Wind Power

Kite surfing is the perfect activity for villa guests looking for thrills and challenges. This exciting marine activity unites the best of wake boarding, wind surfing and paragliding. If you don’t have any knowledge or experience of the sport then it’s definitely a must to take a few lessons. Either head to one of the training schools in Phuket or Koh Samui, or if your villa has its own paddle board you could even organise a private tutor to come directly to the villa to give lessons.

Set Sail

If you want to explore a little more of the seas that fill your villa views then setting sail aboard a Hobie Cat or similar vessel is the ideal option. These lightweight catamarans are ideal for those that want to have a little fun on the water. In fact, the sailing world was revolutionised when these boats were launched with their innovative fibreglass design as people could feel the speed of the surf on a single-handed craft. If you’ve never sailed before, it might be worth booking onto a short training course at one of the Phuket or Koh Samui sailing centres before heading for the horizon. This will usually cover the basics, including rigging the boat, launching, landing and basic understanding of the wind.
