Popular spot for water based activities and Traditional Balinese dances

The area around Kuta boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in Bali and therefore is a popular spot for water based activities such as surfing, sun bathing or swimming. Just outside the city centre is Waterbom Waterslide Park, a 3.8 hectare tropical water park with water rides and tube raft. Scuba diving is also a popular activity in Bali where underwater explorers can find good dive sites both close to Kuta in the south and in the northern side of the island.

The art scene in Ubud is the perfect backdrop to take art classes to learn traditional Balinese techniques for wood carving, kite making or painting. Ubud is also famous for its dance displays that teache spectators about Balinese art and culture. Traditional Balinese dances such as Legong, Joged Bumbung, Kecak or fire dance can be learned in small studios located just off the city centre.

Bali's festivals are also a popular draw and some also feature spectacular street parades with floats displaying crafted statues and locals dressed in brightly coloured costumes dancing to traditional music.
