Langkawi Nightlife

A wide range of drinks and music

Although Langkawi is essentially a quiet beach escape, its popularity with yachties and party seekers means there are a number of lively options open to visitors once the sun goes down. Pantai Cenang is the best place to be for nigh-time fun with bars and clubs serving a wide range of drinks and music, the former all at duty free prices. There's a handful of places that open 'til dawn, with hardened party lovers usually gravitating to Pantai Tengah, the best known stretch for hedonistic revelry.

Pantai Cenang is not the only place for nightlife, but as it boasts the largest number of bars on the island, as well as a few nightclubs with DJs spinning everything from holiday pop tunes to hip hop and dance mixes. Kuah's nightlife scene is much less vibrant, although there are several bars in the town, mainly catering to the singles crowd and karaoke is also a favourite form of local entertainment so crooners are well catered for. Live music also occasionally adds to the atmosphere in all three of Langkawi's nightlife zones and some of the larger hotel bars offer relaxed musical accompaniments to help the cocktails go down smoothly.
