The warm and mild climate on Phuket makes it a popular destination for golfers and the island features some world class golf courses and the cost of playing is very reasonable compared to costs in the west. For those who simply want to fine tune their skills, there are also driving ranges on the island and experienced instructors can be hired for a very low fee.
The waters around Phuket offers some of the most diverse marine life in Thailand making diving, snorkelling, fishing and sailing particularly enjoyable. Several tour operators on the island offer guided sailing trips to the vast archipelago that surrounds the island while dive schools offer diving courses from beginners to very advanced levels. A walk down to some of the most popular beaches, such as Patong, Kata or Karon will reveal other beach activities such as kayaking, jet skiing or para sailing after a motor boat.
