Phuket boasts a thriving nightlife scene that for many visitors is one of the island's main attractions. The range of watering holes and party venues on offer is vast, especially in popular tourist beaches like Patong. Choices include full scale western nightclubs pumping out the latest dance hits, sports bars with international matches on multi-screen TVs and more traditional Thai-style venues with local bands playing live music. Patong also has a number of go go bars, as do Karon and Kata beach, but both are less developed than Patong when it comes to Nightlife. The party venues are distributed over a wider area and a handful of streets are lined with bars, but with few major nightclubs. Meanwhile, for a more laid back Thai style evening, Rawai Beach is lined with friendly local bars, manyclosing late.

Nightlife on Phuket also extends includes more family-friendly entertainment. The Central Festival Walk and Jung Ceylon shopping centres both have multiplex cinemas showing the latest hollywood films in English. There are also a number of cabaret shows, including the internationally recognised Simon Cabaret near Patong, while for more homely fun, Phuket boasts three bowling alleys and a number of British style Pubs in places like Kata and Rawai host pub quizzes and small scale but professional live music offerings.
