The waters surrounding Koh Samui are calm for most of the year with minimal waves. This makes most of the beaches ideal for visitors with children, be it for swimming, snorkelling or more adventurous water sports. Inland, the island also offers several activities catering to fun seekers of all ages. The foothills behind Mae Nam are covered in palm plantations and therefore perfect for paintball and ATV ride, both of which are popular holiday activities. There are also several go-kart tracks on Samui and Chaweng offers adrenaline junkies young and old the chance to throw themselves off a 50-metre high platform tied safely to a bungy cord.
A more natural but equally thrilling adventure can be enjoyed at Canopy Adventures, also in Mae Nam, where you can zip along 300 metres of cable lines, skimming the treetops as you gaze down on a backdrop of azure sea. In Choeng Mon, Football Golf promises fun for the whole family, with a more educational experience to be had at the Butterfly Garden in Laem Set. On Khao Pom mountain, off Lipa Noi, children can get close up and personal with deer, goats, birds, and other animals at Paradise Park Farm, which spans 20 acres of tropical hillside.
