Thailand beaches

Visitors can choose exactly the kind of atmosphere, activities and services they prefer

Thailand's beaches, islands and seaside living are legendary with sun seekers from around the world As a general rule of thumb, the further south the beaches are located, the more pristine the waters. Hua Hin and Pattaya are popular weekend getaways for Bangkokians, but with their proximity to big city, the beach towns have more to offer off the water with full facilities on offer in addition to the sweeping sea views. Off the Trat province shores, Koh Chang, Koh Kood, and Koh Mak are gaining popularity with travellers. However, Thailand's two biggest island draws are the jet-set destination Phuket and the tropical boutique island of Koh Samui. Phuket is another of Thailand's most popular beach destinations, with bays like Patong, Kata and Karon offering unending choices for beachside bliss, plus quieter, more exclusive oceanside enclaves like Surin, Bang Tao and Cape Panwar, providing the best in sophisticated luxury. Less developed but equally enchanting sand swept Koh Samui boasts perhaps the highest choice of waterfront accommodation and diversion.

For those in search of peace and seclusion, smaller islands like Koh Phi Phi, Koh Chang, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao and Koh Lanta combine a desert island feel, but with pockets of tourist friendly services and a diverse range of indulgent amenities. More remote still, tiny unspoilt escapes such as Koh Mak, Koh Lippe and Koh Kradan offer the kind of tropical escape that what well travelled beach aficionados dream of. In the more developed beach destinations, however, the attractions and facilities available close to the crystalline waters cover the full gamut of oceanfront experiences, everything from secluded bays to buzzing beachside metropolises. This means visitors can choose exactly the kind of atmosphere, activities and services they prefer, before they even arrive in the country, guaranteeing a tailor made beach holiday to remember.
